Education Programs

When art happens lives change!

Our Education and Community Outreach programs change the lives of over 5,000 school children every year. We are committed to integrating the arts into our diverse community whether through a stellar performance or an interactive lesson in the classroom!

The Shubert Summer Theater & Arts Camp is a month-long camp for Connecticut 5th-8th grade students held at New Haven's state of the art Cooperative Arts & Humanities High School (next door to the Shubert Theatre). This innovative program gives students the opportunity to pursue the arts during the summer through a range of courses while giving them a head start on what they'd like to pursue in high school. Students may select courses based on their interest and strengths. Courses include: musical performance, acting, dance, technical theater, digital photography, short film and more!

This program is designed to provide New Haven based organizations with cultural and entertainment opportunities for those in the community who might not have the opportunity to experience the performing arts. Each season, tickets to Shubert shows are distributed to over 100 groups in the community through CAPA's Community Connections program. Performances generally include Broadway, dance, and family events.
